Thora Birch

Thora Birch was born March 11th 1983. She is an American actor, producer and director. Her film debut was in Purple People Eater (1988) and was awarded the Young Artist Award for "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old". Birch was a child star who appeared in movies such as All I Want For Christmas (1991) The Patriot Games(1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Monkey Trouble (94), Now and Then (1995) as well as Alaska (1996). She won a Young Artist Award in the category of "Best Young Actress under Nine Years Old." In 1999, Birch played Jane Burnham in American Beauty. This film earned her a BAFTA nomination. After that, she starred in Ghost World (2001) as Enid. She was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. In 2003, Birch received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance as the title character in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story. Birch has also starred in Dungeons & Dragons (2000) and The Hole (2001), Silver City (2004) and Dark Corners (2006). She was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2003. Birch was also in the role of Whisperer Maryor Gamma in The Walking Dead's season 10. Birch was Jack Birch's eldest son, was born in Los Angeles. Birch her family, which originally was named Biersch is German-Jewish and Scandinavian. She also has French-Canadian, French, and Italian ancestral roots.  Her name, Thora is taken from the name of Thora, the Norse god thunder and lightning ("Thor") (which could have been her name if she had been a child. Kian Bolt Birch who is her younger brother, is her mother. They are both former adult film actors and were both in Deep Throat. They were reluctant to help Thora due to their previous experience in the industry of entertainment. But, the babysitter noticed Thora acting out commercials, and encouraged them to show her photograph to agents. Birch was four when she had her first big break when her babysitter took her on a audition for the Quaker Oats advertisement.
