Rosamund Pike
In 1979, in
London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike is the sole child of a
classically trained violinist mother, Caroline (Friend), as well as an opera
singer father, Julian Pike. Her childhood was spent traveling across Europe as
a result of the work of her parents. Pike went to Bristol's Badminton School
and started acting at the National Youth Theatre. Pike first appeared in the
National Youth Theatre production "Romeo and Juliet". She was signed
by an agent after she was discovered. Pike also began acting at the National
Youth Theatre. Her first film was a huge-budget action thriller. However, her
later film work was mostly in independent films, such as Promised Land (2004)
and The Libertine (2004). She was also awarded the Best Supporting Actress
award in The British Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005)
featured Pike as one of the Bennet girls. Following a brief appearance in
Hollywood, Doom (2005) and Fracture (2006) was her next film. She returned to film
with outstanding performances in three lesser films. She was also in Johnny
English Reborn (2011) and in the sci-fi film Wrath of the Titans (2012). Pike
was back in action films as the main actress, playing Tom Cruise in Jack
Reacher (2012).
