Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actor and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid female actress on American television from 2013 until 2020. Vergara rose in prominence in her role as host of two programs on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the latter part of the 1990s. Her first significant acting gig in English was in the film Chasing Papi (2003). Later, she was seen in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come to Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. In 2009, she started playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family for which she was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards.Vergara was also featured in the films The Smurfs (2011), New Year's Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), Fading Gigolo (2013) Chef (2014) as well as Hot Pursuit (2015). She also had voice-over roles in the animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) as well as The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also the highest-paid Hollywood actress in 2020. Since 2020, Vergara has been a judge on America's Got Talent. Vergara was born in Barranquilla by a Roman Catholic couple. Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara was a homemaker while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher. In the eyes of her five siblings and many cousins, she was named "Toti". Vergara initially studied dentistry for three years at National University of Colombia, however, she resigned two semesters away from completing her education to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
