Amy Poehler

  Amy Poehler, born September 16, 1971 was an American actress, comedian, and writer. After studying improv at Chicago's Second City and Improv Olympic in the early 1990s, Poehler co-founded the improvisational-comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. The group moved to New York City in 1996 where their act became a half-hour sketch-comedy series on Comedy Central in 1998. Poehler was the first member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She also joined the Saturday Night Live cast in 2001. From 2004 when she was a co-anchor for Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, to 2008 when she left the series to play Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. She was also a voice actor for the films Shrek the Third (with Horton Hears a Who Free Birds), Inside Out, as well as the television show The Mighty B! which she also co-created. Poehler is the executive producer for the television series Welcome to Sweden. She also produces the television show Broad City, Difficult People. Duncanville. Three Busy Debras. and Russian Doll. She voiced Eleanor in the live-action/CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks film series until the year 2015 when she was replaced by Kaley Cuoco. Poehler was awarded an award on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2015 to recognize her contributions to the world of television. She was awarded an award in the form of a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series in 2014 as well as a Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in 2012. Tina Fey and she won the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
